Metal Toxicity: Your Brain Under Siege

Under normal circumstances the human body is equipped with a highly effective immune system to attack environmental toxins such as parasites, cigarette smoke and radiation from the sun. Heavy metals, however, are a group of toxic invaders that can get past the body’s defenses to cause disorders of epidemic proportion. Awareness is the key to prevention.

Ordinary household items can cause metal poisoning and alter normal brain functioning, so it’s important to be aware of where these toxins are found and what you can do to avoid them.

Natural Toxins
Metals are different from many other toxic substances because they are naturally occurring elements, yet interaction with these elements does affect human health. For most people, food consumption and air inhalation are the main sources of exposure to metals, because metals in the soil and water can readily enter the food chain. Other common sources of exposure include consumer products, industrial waste and your workplace environment.

The Brain as a Target Organ
Toxins target specific organs. For example, radiation from the sun can cause skin damage. Likewise, the brain is a target organ for some toxins. The brain is made of special cells called neurons. Although neurons are similar to other types of cells, they have some unique features that place them at risk.

Symptoms of central nervous system toxicity (brain and spinal cord) caused by metal poisoning include:

Personality changes

Nervousness

Irritability

Tremor

Muscle weakness

Fatigue

Poor memory

Numbness and tingling of the extremities

Jerking of a muscle

Changes in or loss of hearing, vision or taste

Difficulty concentrating

Seizures

These are general symptoms of central nervous system abnormalities. If you experience these symptoms, they may or may not be caused by metal poisoning. Your doctor can order tests to assess the cause.

Children and Elders at Risk
As the brain develops throughout childhood, the developing nervous system, which includes the brain and spinal cord, is vulnerable to attack by certain toxins. Children consume more calories per pound of body weight than adults, and therefore have a greater opportunity for exposure to toxic metals in food.

Lead affects infants more severely than adults because of rapid brain and psychomotor development. Because children have a tendency to put things in their mouths, dust from lead paint and other environmental contamination poses a particular hazard for kids. Elevated levels of lead in the blood have been tied to reduced IQ, poor school performance and juvenile delinquency, while high levels of blood lead can be life-threatening.

Mercury Poisoning
Throughout history there have been outbreaks of mercury toxicity. In the 1950s, people in Japan were poisoned when mercury-laden industrial waste contaminated the fish population of Minamata Bay, a staple of the local diet. In the US and abroad in the mid-1990s, several people experienced mercury poisoning after using a beauty cream produced in Mexico called “Crema de Belleza-Manning” which contained calomel (mercurous chloride).

In the Home
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has alerted consumers that mercury vapors (which have no odor) are hazardous. Mercury is used in a number of common household products, including thermostats, fluorescent light bulbs, barometers, glass thermometers, and blood pressure devices. If the glass or metal that contains mercury in these items is damaged or broken, mercury may spill out, and mercury vapors may be released into the air. Major efforts are underway to reduce the presence of mercury in households. Federal legislation to ban mercury thermometers has long been under consideration, and many states have already passed such bans.

If you spill mercury in your home it is important to assess the amount involved. If this amount is less than or equal to the mercury content of a thermometer, then you can carefully handle the spill yourself. Follow the directions on the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website. You may want to print these directions and keep them for later reference in case you can’t use the internet when a spill actually happens.

Spills larger than that found in a thermometer constitute an environmental emergency and require professional assistance. For larger spills follow EPA directions to:

Call your local health department or state/regional EPA to find out how to clean up and dispose of mercury.

Isolate the area (close doors and cover openings between rooms with plastic).

Turn off heat (to reduce the risk of vaporization).

Open windows.

Don’t vacuum. Turn off fans (including air conditioning) to avoid dispersing mercury vapor through the house.

Keep children away from the spill and, if possible, out of the house.

Don’t let anyone walk through the spill.

Cosmetics
Another source of mercury is found in eye-area cosmetics. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows small quantities of mercury to be used as a preservative in eye-area cosmetics and so far, no significant problems have been reported.

Dental Fillings
Dental amalgam fillings contain a mixture of several metals including about 50% mercury. Over the years, there has been speculation that some diseases may be attributed to a chronic leaching of mercury from fillings. However, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institute of Dental Research, and the US Public Health Service, research does not indicate that dental amalgam is harmful to health, other than an allergy to one of its components. You can request fillings made of composite resins instead, but these have not proven to be as long-lasting as amalgam. The American Dental Association advises people not to have existing amalgams replaced.

Lead Poisoning
Lead can accumulate in the brain and cause injury to the cells, especially in children. The brain has a natural barrier (blood-brain barrier) to prevent the entry of foreign substances, but lead can disrupt this barrier and open the door to drugs and toxins. Lead also damages neurons in brain regions that are important for learning and memory, the inhibition of inappropriate responses, and the coordination of muscle movements. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that children don’t eat paint chips or inhale lead-containing dust.

Dishes
You may be exposed to a daily dose of lead if you use dishes with a lead-based glaze or leaded crystal glasses. Although newly manufactured products have a warning label indicating lead content, older pieces, especially antiques, may not be marked.

Plumbing Pipes
Exposure to lead from plumbing pipes and fixtures is also a problem because lead leaches into the water supply.

Paint
Lead-based paint is another source of lead poisoning. Many homes built before 1960 were painted with lead-based paint. The lead can be found in house dust, which can easily be inhaled. Various state governments have strict deleading policies that are in effect every time a house is sold. Your local health department may have programs that can help you determine whether your house has lead paint hazards that may pose a risk to children.

Aluminum
It is easy to see how aluminum enters the human body, given its prevalent use in antacids, pain relievers, antiperspirants, cosmetics, and pots and pans. There are plenty of less obvious aluminum sources including many of our foods and drinking water sources.

While aluminum is actually the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust, it appears to have no natural function in the human body. Perhaps for this reason, less than 1% of ingested aluminum is absorbed from the gut, and primarily removed by healthy kidneys. If not removed, aluminum may damage the brain. Some patients with severe kidney dysfunction develop dementia and other neurological problems if aluminum is allowed to accumulate in their bodies.

While it has been known for years that aluminum is found in the brain of persons with Alzheimer’s disease, scientists still do not know whether aluminum causes Alzheimer’s disease. Experts do not currently recommend that persons with normal kidney function limit their intake of medications containing aluminum, modify their food intake or choose non-aluminum cooking utensils. New knowledge may eventually lead to a better understanding of the risks associated with this exceedingly important and common substance.

And the List Goes On
Many metals play important roles in the body’s normal functioning, but can cause serious injury if absorbed in excess or if not properly excreted from the body. Metals known to cause bodily injury are manganese, iron, copper, thallium, and cadmium. Lithium is highly effective as treatment for some disorders, but its blood levels must be measured frequently because overdose leads to serious toxicity. Mercury, lead, and arsenic (not discussed in this article) are probably the most serious metallic threats to human health. Neither mercury nor lead have any role in normal human functions. Our goal as a society should be to ensure that we and our children are exposed to as little of these substances as possible.

The Benefits of Vitamin C

We all know that “Vitamin C” is an antioxidant and it’s good for us. When we think of getting vitamin c into our daily diet, most of us think about drinking orange juice, eating an orange, citrus fruits or taking vitamins.

In this health articles blog about Vitamin C, I am posting another article from TriVita, a 10 plus year health and wellness company.

You will find the article below in italics.

If you want a pharmaceutical grade quality Vitamin C supplement backed by a 60 day money back guarantee go here – Vitamin C

Did you know that Vitamin C can also give you an energy boost? There are many benefits and you will learn more in the above link and the health article below in italics.

Thank you TriVita, for another excellent and informative nutrition article.

***************************************************

The Benefits of Daily C

Vitamin C is crucial to your good health, yet according to the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, most adults don’t get enough Vitamin C in their diets. Your body needs this water-soluble vitamin for normal development and growth, in addition to many other health benefits.

Why you need Vitamin C
Humans can’t produce or store Vitamin C. And while Vitamin C deficiency is rare, you must replenish your body’s supply of this vital nutrient every day. Why? Because it’s involved in so many functions of the human body such as:

Formation of collagen – Vitamin C is required to form collagen; collagen is a protein which makes the body’s connective tissues such as blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, bone and skin.

Growth and repair – Vitamin C is necessary for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body.

Wound healing

Maintenance of teeth and gums

Iron absorption – Vitamin C enhances the absorption of iron from the diet.

Immune system function – Vitamin C supports the immune system, including the activation of certain white blood cells. Vitamin C also acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting your body from free radicals; these damaging molecules can result from metabolism, environmental toxins and stress. Free radicals have been implicated in conditions ranging from heart disease and cancer to arthritis and inflammation. And, free radicals can lead to premature aging. In addition to protecting against free radicals, Vitamin C can help extend the lifespan of other antioxidants such as Vitamins A and E. Studies have also shown that Vitamin C may positively affect blood pressure, stroke risk, skin appearance, inflammation and more.

Load up on Vitamin C
It’s easy to get Vitamin C in your diet because all fruits and vegetables contain some Vitamin C. Health experts recommend five servings of fruits and vegetables for children, seven for women and nine for men, so you can boost your Vitamin C intake while meeting other nutritional needs. Load up your grocery cart with these Vitamin C-rich foods: green peppers, citrus fruits, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, turnip greens, sweet and white potatoes, cantaloupe, papaya, mango, watermelon, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, winter squash, red peppers, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries and pineapples.

Eat fruits and veggies raw or minimally cooked; overcooking can leach out the nutrients. You can reach your recommended servings by making fruit and veggie “packs” for snacking and by including them as part of your main meals. A high-quality supplement can also help ensure you get the daily Vitamin C you need for optimal health.

————————————————————

Healthy Weight = Healthy Heart

These days, most people know that carrying extra weight can spell trouble for heart health. Add the continuing increase in overweight and obesity, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. According to recent statistics in the journal of the American Heart Association, fewer than 8% of Americans are considered at low risk for heart disease! So how can you help yourself be in the low risk category?

First things first: how much is too much?
Two common guidelines of overweight and obesity are waist circumference and body mass index (BMI). A waist larger than 40 inches for men and larger than 35 inches for women is considered high-risk. BMI takes your height and weight into consideration to determine if you are underweight, normal, overweight or obese. Check the chart below to see where you stand. If you are in the overweight or obese category, you may want to consider making some lifestyle changes. The bottom line is this: carry around too much weight, and you carry around some serious risks to your heart health.

10 pounds can make a difference
It may sound hard to believe, but it’s true: Losing as little as 10 extra pounds can cut your risk of disease — even death. With so much at stake, why not take action today for lasting weight loss? The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute offers these key reasons and recommendations for reaching a healthy weight:

* To lower elevated blood pressure.
* To lower elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to raise low levels of HDL (“good”) cholesterol.
* To lower elevated blood glucose levels.
* Weight loss should be about one to two pounds per week for a period of six months; after that, base a weight loss plan on the amount of weight lost.
* The combination of a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity is recommended since it produces weight loss that may also result in decreases in abdominal fat and increases in cardiorespiratory fitness.

This may also be the perfect time to try Leanology, the Smart Weight Loss System. Leanology Weight Loss Capsules can help you “lose the bulge,” the delicious Nutritional Shakes are perfect as a low-calorie meal substitution, and the Leanology Appetite Control Chews are a great snack substitute at only 25 calories per chew.

——————————————————–

Every week TriVita puts out excellent information on health and wellness, and as an Independent TriVita affiliate member, I believe I can help distribute this information in my Google WordPress blog.

Many people suffer fromvitamin deficiencies including vitamin d deficiency. The below article will be very informative to you or a friend or loved one.

TriVita will also send it’s members a product catalog and health related journal (VitaJournal) in the mail every month. The VitaJournal is loaded with health and wellness information like the articles in italics below from Trivita’s Chief Scien Officer Brazos Minshew.

————————————–

Top 5 Nutrient Deficiencies

Every year for more than 20 years the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has coordinated data into a report called the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). This information is used to help us understand what nutrients are deficient in our diet and in our food, and how these nutrient deficiencies may eventually lead to preventable disease.

The NHANES survey uses questionnaires to sort out dietary deficiency from absorption deficiency. For example, a person may have adequate Vitamin B-12 in their diet yet, after age 50, they may absorb Vitamin B-12 so poorly that blood tests will show a serious deficiency. Also, the process of homeostasis may leech minerals such as calcium and magnesium from our bones. While a blood test may show adequate levels of these minerals, a diet survey would indicate that we are not eating enough magnesium and calcium to sustain good health.

The following are the top five deficiencies when viewed from the perspective of dietary intake, absorption and “end-point” metabolism. End-point metabolism looks at the results of complex biochemistry rather than simply how much of a particular nutrient we eat or how much is in the bloodstream. For example, we may eat enough Vitamin B-12 and we may have an acceptable level of B-12 in our blood. But, if our homocysteine level is too high, we still need more Vitamin B-12. Homocysteine is an end-point indicator of Vitamin B-12 metabolism.

Vitamin C
Among the greatest deficiencies in the diet of people over 50 is Vitamin C. This is thought to be because of choosing “convenience foods” over leafy green vegetables (not a favorite at any age!). Signs of Vitamin C deficiency include:

•Weakness
•Weariness
•Unhealthy gums
•Nosebleeds
•Bruising
•Slow healing
Our energy-engine (metabolism) declines rapidly after age 50. As the metabolism slows down, we need more Vitamin C because our ability to utilize it is reduced. Eat leafy green vegetables and other sources of Vitamin C. Take a teaspoon of Vital C Crystals in the morning and a Vital C Crystal Tablet at bedtime for optimum antioxidant protection.

Vitamin B-12
After age 30, our brains literally begin to shrink. After age 40, the “brain erosion” becomes measurable and serious. After age 50, we may find that we have lost up to 25% or more of our brain volume as compared to our youth. Yet, those with the highest levels of Vitamin B-12 in their bloodstream exhibit the lowest level of brain erosion.

Signs of low B-12 include:

•Mood and memory problems
•Mental fatigue and poor concentration
•Irritability
•Poor circulation
•Non-refreshing sleep
Our ability to absorb Vitamin B-12 declines with age; our ability to convert Vitamin B-12 into homocysteine-fighting metabolites declines as well. Supplement your diet with Sublingual Vitamin B-12 daily. Remember, the more B-12 in your bloodstream, the less brain erosion you may experience.

Omega-3
Speaking of “brain erosion,” our brains are primarily made of fat. The most common fat in our brain is DHA (docosohexanoic acid). Signs of Omega-3 deficiency include mood disorders, such as depression and Attention Deficit Disorder. Other signs that we may need more Omega-3 include hormone imbalance in women and men, immune system imbalance such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, and chronic fatigue.

Increase dietary sources of Omega-3 such as cold-water fish, flax and walnuts. Add OmegaPrime® as a source of “fast-acting” Omega-3 from fish oil as well as “sustained released” Omega-3 from flaxseed oil and perilla seed oil.

Vitamin D and magnesium
Vitamin D comes from both dietary sources and healthy sunshine exposure. It is activated by exercise. Vitamin D is responsible for hardening your bones. Signs of Vitamin D deficiency include poor blood sugar balance, chronic pain, an unsteady gait and clumsiness, as well as numerous imbalances of the immune system and hormones.

Vitamin D is activated in your muscles and made useful in your kidneys. Both of these systems require healthy levels of magnesium. According to NHANES, many of us do not eat enough magnesium-rich leafy green vegetables. Signs of low magnesium include:

•Muscle cramps
•Indigestion
•Tremors
•Irritability
•Irregularity
Magnesium is found abundantly in plant-based foods such as sea vegetables, nuts and seeds, avocados and leafy green vegetables. Vitamin D can be manufactured with as little as 20 minutes of safe sun exposure daily. Because Vitamin D and Magnesium usually cooperate in nature, we put them in cooperative supplements such as VitaCal-Mag D™ and VitaDaily AM/PM™. They are available in higher levels in Wellavoh™ (Men & Women) and Bone Growth Factor™.

Conclusion
We can learn much from continued research into health and human nutrition. Yet, the same basic rules apply to us all. We must learn and live the 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness to have complete health!

———————————————

Almost everyone would like to lose weight, especially around the holiday season. Here is another informative article below in italics from TriVita’s Chief Sciene Officer Brazos Minshew about how to lose weight.

If you suffer from any type of pain and inflammation, try Nopalea our prickly pear juice and flagship product.

All TriVita products have a 60 day money back guarantee.

—————————————————————–

Losing the Holiday Weight Gain

The holidays offer plenty of opportunities for overindulgence: lavish dinners, tantalizing treats, etc. Sometimes the lure can be difficult to resist – resulting in holiday weight gain. But by implementing a practical weight loss strategy, losing those holiday pounds – and even lifetime weight control – can be well within your reach.

The plan
Losing weight requires the same careful consideration that you would give to any serious endeavor; don’t fail to plan. But, create a plan that is realistic.
You may prefer to start with an exercise program and then add in the dietary changes. Or you may want to do it the other way around. If you’re really motivated, you may want to start both the exercise and diet segments simultaneously.

The diet
The first challenge we face in diet selection is committing to the discipline of thinking ahead instead of eating impulsively. So, start with something small and attainable.
Many health experts recommend fresh fruits and vegetables daily for a healthy life:
5 servings for children
7 servings for women
9 servings for men
Add high quality protein to your diet
Drink plenty of water
These are easy steps that you can accomplish today!

The exercise
Exercise is the key to weight control. There is no way around it. However, exercise does not have to be a punishment; it can really be pleasurable. The key is to find something you enjoy. I recommend that you start with three forms of activity to prevent exercise boredom. Add more activities every month. Get in the habit of participating in at least 30 minutes of activity every day.

There are basically two types of exercise:

Aerobic exercise is defined as any activity that increases your need for oxygen. Aerobics make you breathe harder.

Progressive resistance training is defined as any exercise where the load to the muscle is increased by some mechanical means – weights, bands, springs and many other methods. The key is to progressively increase the weight or resistance over time. This results in more lean body mass and less fat mass.

You need both types of exercise every week.

The supplements
Leanology supplements are important in a healthy weight loss strategy. In many people they represent the critical difference between success and failure. However, you must always remember that they are supplements; they supplement a diet and exercise program. Use them wisely as an important part of your total wellness program.
Leanology supports the four stages of weight loss:
Energy and metabolism: Leanology Weight Loss Capsules help increase metabolism and energy to support your body’s ability to burn more calories at rest. Leanology Nutritional Shakes provide low-calorie, high protein energy to support healthy metabolism.
Cortisol and stress management: Cortisol is the stress-induced hormone that can lead to abdominal fat. Leanology Weight Loss Capsules help to limit cortisol production in your body. The focus here is to stop cortisol before it starts. Protein, such as those in Leanology Nutritional Shakes, can break the cortisol cycle once it starts – especially if taken first thing in the morning. Many physicians specializing in weight loss recommend a high-protein breakfast at 7 a.m. to regulate the cortisol cycle.
Appetite control: Leanology Appetite Control Chews help reduce the natural hunger signals in your body to minimize cravings. Leanology Weight Loss Capsules contain glucomannan and other botanicals to send a “full” signal to your brain.
Blood sugar control: Leanology Weight Loss Capsules focus more than half of their ingredients on blood sugar control. Leanology Nutritional Shakes taken between meals keep your blood sugar rock-solid. Leanology Shakes also help your body use the nutrients you eat as energy, rather than storing them as fat.

Conclusion
Holiday weight loss is possible and within your reach. Follow these simple steps diligently – that’s the real key! Also, take Leanology to “supplement” your weight loss program. And, don’t forget your supplements for foundational nutrition, because calorie restriction may often mean nutrient restriction. Weight loss is a metabolically intense journey and we need all the nutrients we can get to build healthy metabolism. Still, the goal is worthwhile and the progress is measurable day by day!
Share this report with a friend

Take Control of Your Health
Plan a balance of calories and activity for weight control
Eat 5, 7 or 9 servings of fruit and vegetables daily
Plan 30 minutes of aerobic activity most days of the week
Do resistance training 2 to 5 times per week

What To Do When You Have A Cold

“There is just one way to treat a cold, and that is with contempt.” Sir William Osler

Ok, so you have read all those articles about prevention, but now you actually have a cold. What do you do now? A quick review of the transmission of trigger viruses and the interaction between viruses and your immune system can open the doors on a strategy to ease the symptoms and shorten the duration of a cold.

Is it a cold or the flu?
A cold is associated with the rhino virus and the flu with influenza virus. The symptoms are not exactly caused by the virus since many of us have the viruses without symptoms. Instead, the symptoms of a cold or the flu are caused by an imbalance in our immune system in the presence of a trigger virus.

Reduce your exposure
The largest contributor to infection by a trigger virus is unwashed hands. Washing your hands with soap every few hours will reduce the chance for pathogens to gain access to your system. Equally as important as washing your hands is making sure they are completely dry. Then, use the disposable towel to open the door out of the washroom. Many ugly microbes lurk on door handles – usually from people who have not properly washed and dried their hands.

Next, disinfect surfaces that are shared by many people. For instance, the telephone brings you within kissing distance of hundreds or even thousands of people. Who knows what their hygiene habits were? In a typical day we may be exposed to germs from as many as 150 countries or more!

To the extent possible, avoid crowds, and try not to shake hands with people who obviously have a cold or flu. In addition, refrain from rubbing your eyes and nose. Other precautions include getting sufficient sleep, eating enough fruits and vegetables and being especially careful when around children. Why? Because they get between five and eight cold infections a year!

Important Health News – Protect Yourself from the Flu

By Brazos Minshew, TriVita’s Chief Science Officer

About this time of year many people ask me what they can do to prevent the flu or minimize its impact. That has never seemed more relevant than today; so, I will address this with the best science we have available today. I say “today’s best science” because we simply don’t know everything we need to know about preventing and treating the flu. And we need to remember that not all that long ago “current science” said that the earth was flat and diseases were caused by evils spells or dead ancestors.

Many people never get the flu – no matter which strain we are talking about. Do you? When you get the flu, are your symptoms severe? Are there high-risk people living with you? Then your preference for or against preventive measures must take them into consideration. (What if you got it and survived but transmitted it to them and they died? How would you feel?) In any case, 35,000–40,000 people in North America die of the flu each year. It is estimated that this number will double with H1N1.

Flu protection
There are three pathways you need to focus on with flu protection – any variety:

Transmission

Infection

Inflammation

Inflammation
We will begin at the ending: Inflammation from the immune system that incapacitates – even kills – people when they have the flu. MOST IMPORTANT: The flu kills people not by transmission or by infection, but by an inflammatory immune system response called the “cytokine storm.”

Our immune system is designed to neutralize and excrete any non-self protein it finds. That includes the influenza virus. The size of the immune response needs to be equivalent to the strength of the invader.

Think of this as a building on fire: small fires are extinguished by local fire fighters. Some fires are so big that fire fighters from other departments have to be called in to help. So, fires are designated as “one-alarm,” “two-alarm,” “three-alarm,” and so on. At a certain point, our immune system pulls all of the alarms and immune system fractions from all over our body rush to put out the fire, so to speak. However, this is a case of fighting fire with fire. Cytokines are inflammatory. They kill viruses and bacteria by creating inflammation.

The cytokine storm is responsible for all of the symptoms we feel: fever, body aches, nausea, diarrhea, etc. It is also responsible for filling the lungs with mucous (pneumonia/pneumonitis) which is often the fatal trigger in influenza, SARS, Hanta virus, bubonic plague, etc.

To survive we must modulate the cytokine storm so that it does its job but doesn’t overwork and kill us. We make it work smarter, not harder. So we don’t use Vitamin C or Echinacea or anything that “boosts” the immune system. We use immune system modulators so we get exactly the right response. Quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids), green tea polyphenols (found in Energy Now!) and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus found in Adaptogen 10 Plus) all balance the immune system and decrease the cytokine storm.

Infection
Prior to the cytokine storm is the infection stage of influenza. The virus infects the cell by matching a cell receptor called Hemagglutinin. Hemagglutinin (the “H” in H1N1) allows the virus to gain entry to the cell and mutate the cell DNA so it can breed an infection. It also allows the newly mutated DNA to be incorporated into surrounding cells and through cell lines. Hemagglutinin describes “infection” with the flu. Two powerful natural inhibitors of Hemagglutinin are green tea polyphenols and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus) found in Super Sublingual B-12.

Transmission
Neuraminidase describes “transmission” of the flu where the virus disarms the immune system with an enzyme. This is the “N” in H1N1, H5N1. Neuraminidase inhibitors like Tamiflu limit the ability of the virus to transmit its DNA strands. Two strong natural Neuraminidase inhibitors are green tea polyphenols and quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids). It is likely that green tea polyphenols and quercetin will help your body do what it does best: resist infection. Think of them as the first line of defense to arm your immune system and prevent the flu virus from disarming it.

By the way, the most common route of infection is touching your eyes with contaminated hands! Wash your hands frequently and dry your hands thoroughly to discourage infection. Also, the most common reason why people experience the runaway inflammation of a cytokine storm is poor sleep. Sleeping peacefully now becomes a matter of life and death!

Flat earth?
We don’t know all there is to know about flu prevention and treatment. There are endless avenues and processes we simply have not explored. Imagine what we knew about viruses 50 years ago: Do you think we will know more in the next 50 years? Certainly so! Accepting that as truth we know one thing for sure: some people never get the flu.

How can we be one of them?

Primarily it is through vigorous application of the 10 Essentials for Health and Wellness.

Practice deep breathing to reduce your body’s acidity and to reduce the impact of stress on your immune system.

Drink plenty of pure water.

Wash and thoroughly dry your hands often.

Get plenty of early-morning sunshine.

Sleep peacefully every night.

Eat nutritiously and take the nutrients you need as a solid foundation for health.

Play daily (enjoy activity) and surround yourself with healthy people you love.

These are the things that keep healthy people healthy and they can help you, too!
